WORLD BUSH WHACKED01-07-2006What's the point of being the world's policeman if you don't obey the law? On Thursday The US Supreme Court ruled that military tribunals planned for ten inmates of the Guanatanamo Bay prison camp were illegal. Yet Dubya insists he wants to find a way of proceeding with these illegal trials anyway - never mind that they breach the United States' own code of military justice and the Geneva Convention. Meanwhile the ten suspects - aong with 450 other detainees - rot away in their stinking Cuban hell-hole. Now Bush has given Israel the go-ahead to break the rulesas well. He reckons their detention of eight members of the lawfully elected Palestinian government is alright by him. Likewise their missile attack on theinterior ministry building in Gaza and a water pipeline. Israel is understandably miffed at the kidnapping of one of its soldiers, Corporal Gilad Shilat. But is indiscriminate “shoot em up revenge” really the best way to solve the problem. Er, yes, says President Bonehead who neatly turns Winston Churchill's famous dictum on it's head - the White House clearly prefers “war war” to “jaw jaw”.
