BIRMINGHAM TOPS MAST RENT LEAGUE 07-12-2006 Birmingham City Council earns more rent from mobile phone masts than any other local authority in the country. Its annual income is £590,000 - more than Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Dudley and Coventry put together. The news is sure to anger campaigners who believe that masts causecancer clusters - although no formal link has ever been established. The Stirrer makes the revelation in today's Birmingham Mail, where you can also read news about the former Conservative candidate who's now emerged as a leading power-broker in the city's Labour party. There's also more on our story about Birmingham University's course closures, and questions about those alarmist police signs warning that “robbers are active in this area.” |
