STIRRER LAUNCHES “HEINZ” AMNESTY

10-10-2006

News that Heinz is launching its “beans amnesty” this weekend in the West Midlands - just weeks after announcing the closure of its historic HP sauce factory in Aston - has prompted The Stirrer to announce a “Heinz amnesty” as part of our ongoing boycott of the company's products.

Heinz has been running an ad campaign over recent weeks encouraging shoppers to give up what it says are inferior brands.

The first "amnesty" is due to take place this Sarurday at Touchwood in Solihull.

We think Heinz are a second-rate company, simply because they have treated workers - who have contributed so much value over the years - with contempt.

Any Heinz products handed in to us will be given to a deserving local cause.

We are mindful, incidentally, that Heinz still employs 2,000 people elsewhere in Britain - our aim is not to get their other factories closed down but to bring the company to the table to generate more work in this area.

Full details of our Heinz amnesty to follow.
