BIG MAC …AND TOYS TO GO

15-11-2006

One of Britain's biggest toy stores has been slated by a local MP for enticing youngsters into a lifestyle of low fat, salt and sugar.

Tom Watson who represents West Bromwich East was outraged after visiting his local Toys R Us in Oldbury to buy a Christmas present for his young son.

Among the offerings are plastic picnic bags, full of “pretend” McDonalds burgers and fries.

In his daily blog, Watson comments that the retailer seems to have missed the national debate about healthy eating.

He comments that they “would have kids flipping cheeseburgers before they could peel an orange”.

And he adds: “If I thought that they cared, I'd send Toys 'R' Us a letter but they must know what they're doing. Next time I'm going to the Early Learning Centre.”
