Some civil liberties wusses are getting hot under the collar about calls by senior police officers for more powers to administer instant justice.

What nonsense. The police should have more powers not fewer to interevene in crime without all those tiresome courtroom procedures.

Just lock ‘em up and throw away the key says The Stirrer - and he's got a few guilty parties in mind.

Prime ministers, for example, who illegally take their country to war on the basis of fabricated evidence.

Hanging's too good for ‘em - send them off instead on endless speaking tours to justify what they've done to the relatives of those who've died in their battle for “freedom”.

First stop Basra, then Kabul and if there's time, maybe somewhere in the Lebanon.

A warm welcome guaranteed.

Or what about corrupt politicians who've sold peerages in return for party donations.

Thirty years hard labour on the backbenches sounds about right.

Or what about those who lecture us on the need to improve the environment but still ride around in two jags.

Slap on ASBO on the yobs and put their cars in the crusher.

It's the only language they understand.
