LEAST WELCOMING TOURIST OFFICE IN BRITAIN -

VICTORY FOR THE STIRRER!

17-08-2006

Tourism

Well, well, well…just a couple of days after denying that it has any involvement with the “least welcoming tourist office in Britain” - i.e. the greenhouse on New Street by Waterstones - Birmingham Council now tell us that it's being be repaired next week.

But there's a curious twist in the tale; fixing one pane of broken glass will apparently take three days. Most curious.

So now The Stirrer wants to know a little bit more about this strange information kiosk that looks like something Costa Coffee rejected.

Why will such a simple repair job take so long? How long has the window been smashed? And how come it's beenleft in that condition?

Oh yes - and how much will it cost to repair?

By our reckoning, the indoor fish market is at least half a mile away from New Street, so why does this apparently straightforward story have such a strange whiff.
