SEVERN TRENT "RIP OFF" CLAIM

23-02-2007

Severn Trent Water have been accused of “ripping off” customers after a Birmingham lecturer discovered the difference between paying for a metered and unmetered supply.

Andrew Dubber, from Moseley, has just had a meter installed, and is now paying just £131 a year - a whopping decrease on his previous charge of £431.

Although he's delighted at paying less, he's scandalised that Severn Trent were previously charging him £300 over the odds. The company blames the pricing system they inherited at privatisation in 1989.
