PRIVATE FUNERAL FOR HARDEMAN

23-07-2007

Birmingham councillor Ken Hardeman who died last week will have a private family funeral in the next few days - although there are plans for a public memorial service in September.

Hardeman, the Cabinet member for Regeneration, passed away eight days ago after contracting pneumonia.

Long-time colleague John Lines said: “It is the wishes of Ken's family that a small private funeral be held this week.

“A larger Memorial Service will be held in September in order that the City can give thanks for the life and work of Ken. More details will be announced about this service shortly.

"Ken's family have requested that no flowers be sent at this time. Details of the charities to which donations can be sent will be announced at the Memorial Service.

“They would like to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support and condolence they have received at this difficult time."
