SAVE THE LIBRARY - GUESTS CONFIRMED 24-02-2007 The campaign to save Birmingham's Central Library steps up a gear on Monday with a major public meeting that brings together developers, council officials and - making a rare public appearance - library architect John Madin. Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg will host the session which starts at 7.30 at the Birmingham and Midlands Institute in Margaret Street. Madin, who has passionately defended his design, will be joined by Gary Taylor from Argent who are currently redeveloping Paradise Forum and Clive Dutton, the city's senior regeneration official. Alan Clawley who has organised the event makes no bones about his desire to “promote the positive features of the Birmingham Central Library and to challenge the City Council's case for its demolition.” Goldberg's job is to ensure a properly impartial debate. The Stirrer has generated a sizeable archive of articles about the library. You can click on the links below to see what we've written.
