LES BE 'AVIN YOU ON WM

25-01-2007

Veteran broadcaster Les Ross ismaking a surprise return to full-time broadcasting by replacing Danny Kelly on BBC WM'safternoon show. With Ross, Doolan and Tony Butler all now frontline voices on the station, one insider commented "it's like BRMB 1974 all over again".

Station editor Keith Beech explained that Ross's new appointment came about simply because he was willing to make himself available on a full-time basis. He had previously said he was only interested in a part-time positionfollowing an ill-fated move to Saga.

Laughing at the BRMB reference, Beech pointed out that the station presenters include Daz Hale who's still in his 30'sand Phil Upton who's just turned 40. But he added, "Actually, BRMB at its peak was one of the best local stations ever broadcast, but that was because it had greatpresenters and now we've got three of those."

Ross will replace Danny Kelly who moves to the lateslot (and Sundaybreakfast) while the current nighthawk Jimmy Franks will take over Saturday breakfast.
