TODAY’S THE DAY TO STAND UP FOR THE BLACK COUNTRY 26-11-2007 Today’s the day to Stand Up For The Black Country, as online voting begins in the competition that could land Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton with £50 million from the National Lottery. Our local project involves a variety of schemes including creating a “green bridge” between West Brom wand Walsall, regenerating Wolverhampton’s canals, and creating a tourism “experience” at the amazing limestone quarries in Dudley. The Black Country project will battle it out for the cash against Sherwood Forest, the Eden Project and a development of the Sustrans cycle network. There’ll be a TV spectacular – “The People’s £50 Million Lottery Giveaway programme - outlining the rival bids on December 6, followed by a phone vote starting the next day. You don’t have to wait to cast your vote online though – that process starts today. Just go to http://www.thepeoples50million.org.uk/home and Stand Up For The Black Country. |
