HOPE NOT HATE COMES HOME

30-03-2007

The anti-fascist Hope Not Hate bandwagon returns to the West Midlands this weekend, featuring a performance by Billy Bragg and - it's rumoured - UB40.

Organised by the Searchlight, Hope Not Hate is the Rock Against Racism of the noughties - a fortnight of action aimed at galvanising cross party support against the British National Party.

Last week, the tour bus came to Dudley, and this weekend it's in Birmingham and Sandwell.

The Brum venue is Victoria Square where the bus rolls up at 3.30 today, but the main focus is Sandwell - where the BNP has four councillors - and there's a full day of action planned on Sunday from 10 am onwards.

The aim is to get 200 volunteers and deliver some 50,000 leaflets - hard work, but lunch will be provided and there'll be a free show by Billy Bragg. The Stirrer will be in attendance, so come on down and join us. We understand that members of UB40 will be in attendance too, so you never know your luck.

Turn up at 10.30 at the African Caribbean Resource Centre, Thomas Street, West Bromwich.
