ANOTHER TALL TALE FROM TOLKEIN

31-10-2006

Birmingham author and Lord Of The Rings creator JRR Tolkein is celebrated tonight at Perrott's Folly in Edgbaston in a unique Hallowe'en happening.

The city has arguable failed to make the most of one of its most famous sons, but this event should go some way towards rectifying that omission. It all kicks offat 6pm with asound and light show, that promises to illuminate the folly for miles around.

There'll also betheatrical performances explaining why this bizarre ruin is there in the first place, featuring guest appearances by Gandalf and eccentric 18th centure landowner John Perrott. Oh, and there'll be fireworks, face painting, and loads of other autumnal malarky.
There'll be a special prize for the best dressed Tolkein character too.

The whole thing should be over by 7.30, so it's not too late for the little un's. Sounds like an excellent family night out.
