Ooh er, missus...the Nice and Naughty "adult shop" in Wednesbury is seeking permission from Sandwell Council today to display sexy lingerie in its (currently blacked out) front window. The Stirrer's poet laureate Brendan Hawthorne ponders the arrival of the sexual revolution in the Black Country.

Lower High Street is about to get somewhat hotter

Not just a teeny little bit but a whole lot lotter

A steamy retail window now blanked out from view

Will be revealing a whole lot more in a week or two

The private shop will not be as coy as it’s been of late

And the public display frontage will carry a triple x-rate

There’ll be the seductive and sexual and maybe bizarre

The products will draw your eyes in no matter who you are

This little old place is about to get the shock of its days

The sexual revolution is now going to have its own ways

And there’ll be many things aired at this Wednesbury store

That have never in this town’s history been seen out there before!
