ACE Dance South Africa Blog (2) ARRIVING IN GRAHAMSTOWN 30-06-2008 Digbeth-based dance troupe ACE are currently representing Birmingham at South Africa’s Grahamstown Festival. Tour booker Megan Nelsey fights off the jet lag to send the latest despatch. We were shattered. Having not listened to Ian's suggestion of the 'slightly lighter packing approach' our arms felt as if we'd all been competing in the 'Heavy Weight Championships' and our feet thought they belonged to over-weight elephants. We looked far from athletic. The journey took 24 hours and it felt it. Ah. Blissful. The showers had by all were a delight and once again, we were back to resembling the human being and our puffed-up feet had forgotten all about their elephant impressions. Marvellous. We had arrived South Africa. Supper time. 'Nando's!' exclaimed Thoko (our South African Based dancer). The UK company members were not impressed. After much persuasion and having travelled over 6,000 miles, we agreed that we should experience something that we're not able to get on our doorstep in the UK. Meat, salad, chips and veg were had by all and we felt great. After a short visit to the 'Long Table', the coolest place in town and a must to be seen in, we decided to absent ourselves from the excitement and call it a night, and may I say it must have been the best night's sleep we had all had in a long, long, time.
