LISTEN AGAIN TO BISHOP JOE - WELL, ALMOST

31-10-2007

Following The Stirrer's story last week about the lack of African-Caribbean voices on BBC WM's internet "Listen Again" feature, we notice that Bishop Joe Aldred's programme has now been added to the list. You still can't actually hear him though.

Technical glitches mean that all of the station's "Listen Again" output seems to be out of operation - denying listeners the chance to savour the choice moments of local broadcasting. It's been like this for months, apparently.

Members of the black community drew our attention the fact that even when it wasn't out of order, the sounds of key black presenters Joe Aldred and Nikki Tapper (as well as Ben Turner) were missing.

WM's assistant editor Jeremy Pollock - a thoroughly decent fellow - assured us last week, that once the system was working again, Bishop Joe's programme would be made available online.

They have now officially added his name to the "Listen Again" roster, presumably as a gesture of good faith, although there's still no sign of the excellent Nikky Tapper. Hopefully it won't be too long before she joins Joe - and that we can actually hear 'em both as well.
