STAFF FIGHTBACK WITH SINGLE STATUS WEBSITE

23-11-2007

Disgruntled Birmingham Council staff have a new focus for their dissatisfaction with the city’s Pay and Grading Review – a new website set up to enable workers to compare how fairly their new wages have been evaluated.

The Council employee who set up the site doesn’t reveal his or her identity, but admits to working in the planning department.

He or she writes, “all I know about are the people around me who have been downgraded and face pay cuts and there seems to be plenty of them.

“Alan Rudge has said that he could probably count on the fingers of one hand the amount of people who have suffered massive pay cuts. Is he right ?
“Already, in my own office patterns are clearly emerging in the new job scores and grading structure that seem to be at odds with the notion of equality and fair pay and I would be interested in other's experiences.”
