Brendan Hawthorne, The Stirrer's resident poet, ponders on the design values of the 2012 Olympics logo launched last week

No Go Logo

A transparent design

A smashed pane

on spin

with as much fizz

as morning after

champagne

announcing

London’s no go

logo

migraine generator

A derision driven

jig-saw

sore point

seizure trigger

pulling £400g’s

of oral captivation

to brand

the global

Olympic village

with strobe flicker

re-constructions

A thin plot story

of the deprived

rings of five

and 20-12’s

fun and games

rags to riches

and back again

is sent out

on repeat loop

‘soon to get the

lower case message’

from media drips

driving the

concept home

and I wonder

how much better

Birmingham’s

banner

would have looked

had it ever

been given

a chance?
