Xmas Poem (1) CHRISTMAS SPIRIT 25-12-2007 The Stirrer’s poet laureate Brendan Hawthorne offers a note of festive cheer from the heart of the Black Country. December dawns brass band bright across this town of twinkling lights Market Place echoes to Santa's sleigh as orders are placed for that special day Shoppers crowd along Union and both High Streets traditional places where people meet remembering old friends before memories fade whilst shops bristle with thrills and winter trade our thoughts turn to those in greatest need when collecting tins rattle most will concede to donating something to a worthwhile cause before the Eve when we close our doors and wait for the magic with sparkling eyes gazing above rooftops to wide open skies and as choirs sing aloud at this special time of year Wednesbury holds out a hand and wishes you all good cheer!
