ALL DEBTS ARE OFF

27-03-2007

The recent debate about the relative dangers of drugs and the reclassification of cannabis provokes The Stirrer's resident poet Brendan Hawthorne into a substance free reverie about what's legal ...and what's not

Another expert

Another view

Leaves the public guessing

on what it has to do

Landmark research

Nutt at the wheel

Turning the tables over

another late, late deal

Shortening the odds

an each way bet

on where our habits lead

along the road to debt

And as the expert

boldly stated

the ultimate outcome

was ‘as was predicted'

Downtown Sister

meets Uptown Twin

in the one-two frame

where no-one wins

The palmate leaf

was overdue

down at half-way house

where it openly grew

But tobacco

featured strongly

though not as well as drink

that's where faith was wrongly

placed

Tax revenue

openly retained

clawed in by nanny state hands

a free-market maintained

Will the top ten

drugs be illegal

now that an expert has

placed his cards on the table?

And will the state

relate to learning

that it can't continue

living off immoral earnings?

No fear!

It's fuelling addictions

on chance predictions

by switching

its' ramblings

to state run

gambling
