Brum Council Strike Update

"THREE QUARTERS OF BIN MEN WORKING"

23-04-2008

Birmingham Council is claiming that three quarters of refuse staff are working as normal today – the first day of a planned two-day strike in protest at the new Single Status Pay and Grading Review.

They say that just one of four depots – Lifford Lane in Kings Norton – is affected by industrial action, although they insist that even here a third of rounds is operating.

For those awaiting collections, the advice is still to put household and recyclable waste out as normal.

If it hasn't been collected by the end of the day, put it back out on Saturday when there will be additional collections as necessary.

The Council also says that street cleansing services are working largely as normal.
