BLIND DAVE INVADES THE HAWTHORNS

29-03-2008

Blind Dave Heeley will be “invading” The Hawthorns pitch during Albion’s match against Colchester today – his last public engagement before heading off to the Falklands to prepare for his seven day, seven continent marathon challenge.

The Baggies have cultivated a close relationship with Dave, and have asked him along to get a rousing send-off from thousands of fans during the half-time interval.

After the game, Dave will be packing his bags, and preparing to set off on Sunday for a week’s training in Port Stanley.

After a hectic week of filming with crews from ITV and the BBC, as well as numerous photo calls for the papers, Dave said, “I’ll be glad to get away to be honest.

“Compared to all this media attention, running seven marathons will feel like a rest.”

Dave begins his first run on Sunday week at midnight, and will work his way around the world before completing his adventure at the London Marathon.

You can follow the build-up with a series of exclusive interviews on The Stirrer, starting this Sunday.
