BURMA BLOGS 29-09-2007 The Stirrer has been uncharacteristically quiet on the issue of Burma/Myanmar - mainly because although (of course) we deplore the violence of the military junta, we just don't know enough about the situation to add anything useful. Here, though, are some blogs we've found useful as we've tried to keep up with unfolding events. Bear in mind that the ruling junta have attempted to block internet access to the country, limiting the information that's coming out. At least one blogger seems to be functioning though - check out the Adik Maisarah site which has some interesting pictures from Yangon - or the city we know as Rangoon (see link here) Another authentic Burmese voice seems to be Ko Htike which I think is a Buddhist site but which now has pictures and comment about the unrest - obviously relevant given that monks have been at the forefront of the rebellion (see link here) One of the best news sources about the situation is Burmanet, which has updates on the situation from an array of global news agencies. (see link here). And, er that's it. Unless of course you know different. If you do, please tell us. |
