Campaigners for more council housing in Birmingham are insisting they’ll continue with their protest – even though a key member was stabbed in the throat at the weekend.

Father of seven Lee Moore received a blow to his throat on Friday night after confronting a gang of youths who’ve been plaguing the Benmore estate in Balsall Heath – where Moore’s group Justice Not Crisis are currently squatting in the Firebird pub.

It emerged that Moore had been stabbed and he needed 18 stitches in at Selly Oak hospital.  He may also lose a number of teeth when he visits the dentist today.

Moore – who’s latest child is just four weeks old – avoided death by a couple of inches.

He said:  "It's these kids we are trying to help and to make sure they have homes when they need them - yet they do something like this".

But he insisted that despite the attack, the campaign will continue.
