Stirrer TV MAJOR NEW DANCE FESTIVAL FOR BRUM 23-11-2007
Birmingham will be hosting a major new dance festival next April and May, drawing in companies from 14 countries. From the contemporary moves of leading British choreographer Akram Khan to the Kirov Ballet, it promises to be a treat for anyone interested in the art form. Performances will be staged at venues across the city centre, including Town Hall, Symphony Hall, the Ikon Gallery and even the Mailbox Shopping Centre. The undoubted powerhouse of the festival – which is being underwritten by the City Council, AWM and Arts Council England – is the Hippodrome and its sister organisation Dance Xchange. Festival Director David Massingham has been telling Stirrer TV about his hopes and fears for the event which will be staged every two years.
