Gigbeth Countdown...................................................Seven Days To Go THE STIRRER MEETS RUBY TURNER AT GIGBETH 25-10-2007
The West Midlands top music industry showcase Gigbeth will be opened this year by local soul songstress Ruby Turner.....but rather than delivering the traditional keynote speech, she's asked to be interviewed by Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg instead. Ruby wowed the crowds at the Town Hall re-opening event recently with her starring role in the jazzy update of Handel's Messiah, and has plenty to say about the state of the music business both in the Birmingham area and nationally. She'll be sharing her thoughts with delegates at the Radisson Hotel next Thursday, before a day spent exploring the potential of digital developments in the music biz. Local luminaries such as promoter John Mostyn, UCE expert Andrew Dubber, Chris Thompson from digital distributors EMUSU and tech-wizard Stef Lewandowski will all be on hand to offer their expertise, and there'll be three nights on solid gigging and partying to follow.
