Gareth Barry made England’s second goal in last night’s win against the USA, no doubt adding a few noughts to his transfer value. There’s been a campaign to persuade him to stay at Villa, but The Stirrer advises – Go Gareth Go!

The Birmingham Mail has been running a campaign to persuade Gareth Barry to stay at Villa Park.

As a Baggies fan, I’d like to urge him to clear off as soon as possible.

As long as he remains, he’ll be a magnet to other top stars, and there’s a real danger that Martin O’ Neill’s team fast-improving team could soon develop into a top six side.

If he goes, on the other hand, we can be confident that Villa will soon return to their accustomed state as mid-table non-achievers forever harking back to the glory days.

So for the sake of all Albion, Blues and Wolves fans, here’s a cry from the heart – Go, Gareth, Go!
