DEF LEPPARD, WHITESNAKE, KATIE MELUA (NEC)

16-01-2008

Katie Melua

Three big names – two big gigs.  Heavy rockers Leppard and Whitesnake – with main man David Coverdale – are heading to the NEC in the summer, while for Katie Melua it’s an autumn date.

Def Leppard were among the forerunners of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and went on to conquer the States selling more albums there in the 80’s than Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi or Motley Crue – largely thanks to the album Hysteria which yielded no fewer than seven hit singles.

Coverdale is a rock star of more mature vintage having performed with Deep Purple as a replacement for their original vocalist Ian Gillan, before striking out with his own style of bluesy hard rock.

Tickets for this excellent double bill are priced at £37.50 (plus fees) go on sale on Friday 18 Jan at 9am.

Mike Batt protégé Katie Melua (“The Closest Thing To Crazy) also drops into the NEC Arena on November 6.  Tickets priced £28.50 (plus fees) are on sale from Friday.
