Get Out More………………….Gig previewMACHINE HEAD, TRIVIUM (NEC, Nov 23) 24-07-2007
Whoooooo….scary biker types with tattoos alert…a fearsome foursome of metal acts are coming to the NEC in November…headed by hairy Californians Machine Head. Looking like they weresnatched from a Black Country foundry circa 1972 and cryogenically preserved for two decades, Machine Head emerged in the early 90s as heavy, heavy hardcore thrashers. Their debut album “Burn My Eyes” opens with a track called “Davidian” which describes the Waco siege and includes the immortal line “Let Freeedom Ring/With a Shotgun Blast”. For some reason, the video was banned by MTV. Showing a similar taste for controversy a few years later, the video to their song “Crashing Around You” which showed numerous collapsing buildings was considered somehow distasteful in the wake of 9/11. Can’t imagine why. Anyway if you like you music, dark, doomy and “dangerous”, these are yer fellas. Support comes from Roadrunner label-mates Trivium, whose album The Crusade released last year caused controversy among their fans because the lyrics were actually sung, instead of shouted. Also on the bill are Dragonforce and Arch Enemy, and the good news is that there are some standing tickets available. Tickets priced £25.00 plus booking and transaction fee can be purchased on-line at www.necgroup.co.uk/boxoffice |
