Election 08 GREEN JOY AS SOLIHULL TURNS BLUER 02-05-2008 Solihull’s Green Party proved unlikely allies to the Conservatives by picking up their first seat in the borough - unseating the Labour leader in the process. The Tories now have full control of the previously hung authority. The successful Green was Mike Sheridan who pulled off an unlikely win in Smith’s Wood. This was one of only two Labour losses – but saw off their leader Hugh Hendry. The Conservatives made just one gain in their own right but now control 26 of the 51 seats, an overall majority.
