FORCED ADOPTION CAMPAIGN ON RADIO 4

24-08-2007

The campaign by Birmingham MP John Hemming against forced adoption - featured extensively on The Stirrer - gets a national airing tomorrow on BBC Radio 4.

"You and Yours" which goes out at noon will have a special "Face the Facts" insert at 12.30 hosted by veteran investigator John Waite who’ll be interviewing some of the families affected.

Hemming will accuse the Department for Children Schools and Families of being "disingenuous" by denying that there’s a target for taking children from their birth parents in order to meet overall adoption targets.

As we have reported previously, the number of children adopted over the last decade in England and Wales after being taken into carehas risen by 150% - a figure which has raised alarm bells at theUN(see link here)

"There is a target for getting children in care adopted" Hemming insisted.

"The government are trying to avoid their responsiblity for this situation - instead they should fix the problem.

"Childrens Social Services are not 100% responsible, the blame also rests with the Family Division and in particular those solicitors who act to undermine their own clients and the judges who refuse to allow fair trials."

"I am hoping that the United Nations will assist in trying to protect families in the England and Wales against the ravages of English and Welsh Public Family Law.

"It is a major destructive force. Whilst the state continues to undermine family life it should not be surprised at the consequences."
