Another in our irregular series of guides towards being able to eat, drink and generally enjoy yourself without paying full price or anything like it.

The Travelodge £9 sale has come and gone, but their advance bookings can still mean paying as little as £19 per room.  If all you need is a bed for the night and an early start they’re ideal.

If you’d like something a bit more upmarket McDonald Hotels (to give you some idea of what they’re like, they own the Burlington in Birmingham city centre) are currently running a 50% off deal for rooms booked until 8th March.

Hilton Hotels have a similar offer which expires on 31st January.

If it’s a cheap meal you want Pizza Express and Pizza Hut are still running their 50% offers until the end of the month and the same can be had at Strada (in the Mailbox).

La Tasca (branches all over the area) have a 50% off deal ending on 26th January, while Ask (Hagley Road) and Handmade Burger Co (Touchwood and Brindleyplace) are both giving a 2 for 1 on main courses until the end of January.

Cafe Rouge are also doing 2 for 1, but this one runs out on January 24th.

The Daily Telegraph are running a promotion where 650 restaurants are offering a two-course meal for £10.
