JOIN UP FAST FOR DEBT CAMPAIGN

Over 50 campaigners from the Black Country and Birmingham are one week into the 36 day rolling fast to highlight the plight of 36 different countries which are in urgent need of speeder debt cancellation writes Audrey Miller.

Those fasting so far have been from many walks of life and different Christian denominations, but on Saturday 19th April members of the Jewish community who recently visited Moldova are highlighting the needs of people from that country.

In coming days Caroline Spellman, Lynne Jones and Steve McCabe will be joining the group and be the first local Westminster MPs to show solidarity with the worlds poorest countries.

You can fast for certain countries that you may have visited or have special links with.

The broadcaster and academic Robert Beckford, for example, is joining the rolling fast on May 17th the special day to mark Jamaican unfair debt problems.

All this in the lead up to Birmingham's JOURNEY TO JUSTICE ON Sunday 18th May which will be hosted by Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg.
