OH NO! McLAREN'S BACK FOR ENGLAND 07-05-2008 Former England boss Steve McLaren is back – but thankfully only as a BBC summariser for this summer’s Euro championships. You know, the tournament we failed to qualify for when he was manager. Glyn Berrington is so outraged he’s getting up a petition calling for Mac to get the sack - again! Unfortunately for Glyn, his attempt to have it listed on the Downing Street website has been rejected because it’s “outside the remit or powers of the Prime Minister and Government.” That doesn’t mean it’s wrong though. So Glyn wondered whether other Stirrer readers agree with him that the Beeb should steer clear of an “expert” who failed his nation. Read the wording of his petition here…We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to: 'ask the BBC to revoke their decision to employ Steve McClaren as an expert summariser at Euro 2008' Steve McClaren failed in his job and let the country down when the England football team in his charge failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 tournament As a result of that, not only do the country's football followers not have their team to support this summer, but many companies' profits have been hit and jobs lost as a direct result It is staggering that the BBC have now seen fit to employ him as an expert summariser for the tournament - this shows no regard for the feelings of the licence-fee payers who will ultimately be rewarding him for failure, bearing in mind also that he has already received a substantial pay-off from the FA We ask the PM to intervene and ask the BBC to revoke the contract offer Should the BBC revoke its decision to hire Steve McLaren?
