What heroes of the Lib Dem cause you are.

The BNP guy said he was going to come back with 20 of his mates next Sunday. So I guess we'll be seeing you Gareth in the Prince of Wales pub next Sunday.

No. But her words, as I have said countless times, claim that.

And Martin, I've no idea whether or when you'll be hearing from Mirza but I'm certainly going to alert him to the very odd goings on in the Hall Green office where, according to you, one over hears confidential information at the water cooler or officers tell you things that are none of your business. Not to mention the fact that blabber mouth Mullaney spreads confidential information all over the web. I strongly suspect I won't be the only councillor making the same points to the City Solicitor. It's our civic duty old boy. Nothing personal.

Tell us when you report us to the Chief Legal Officer, I'm sure the local media will be interested in this story.

I'll do no such thing. I know that, like a municipal version of Jade Goody, you like to see every aspect of your little life spread across the (very) inside pages of the Evening Mail but, on this occasion, I am afraid you will be disappointed. Believe it or not, there are some people who are capable of sending an e-mail without simultaneously issuing a press release. Hard for you to believe, I know.

By the way, what is this 'us' of which you speak? Have you now taken to referring to yourself in the royal plural or were not paying much attention when the singular and plural were explained at school?

I very much doubt it. I hear there's a very undesirable crowd in there on Sunday evenings.

I'll tell you next Sunday when you come to the Prince of Wales - remember to wear your Brown Shirt uniform.

With the recent influx of nasty BNP members, I think you'll fit in perfectly.

Now that's not very friendly is it? If I was of a more sensitive disposition I might have been upset by that remark. If I was of a more litigious disposition I might have been consulting myself about suing you. As it is, I regard it merely as a very weak riposte to my little salvo. Sort of lacking in both humour and elegance.

In what way could you sue me? Have I touched a nerve? You come on here and make unprovoked and abusive attacks on Liberal Democrats, adding nothing to the debate......[edited] Do you fantasize about being a Brown Shirt, Gareth?

I know I keep pointing just how little sense of perspective Mullaney has, and just how preoccupied he is with his own importance, but really....this is just beyond parody now.

Likening someone to the Nazis because they have the temerity to disagree with you Martin, is in very poor taste. Do stop, there's a good chap.

As far as I am concerned most of the above is storm in a teacup stuff, but re Nazi comparisons give it a break, Martin. Maybe step away from the PC for a bit.

Is this now becoming the first sign of a split of the so called progressive partnership
with one councillor from the LibDems and another from the Conservative facing
up to each other in the courts or a Standards Board hearing ??

With Labour in Birmingham likely to loose more seats to the Conservatives and
even some LibDem seats could change hands in 2010

Could Whitby be in the position to tell the Libdems to get lost now boys could
it also be the demise of Birmingham LibDems for a generation

I'm sorry PragueTory but you really need to keep your nasty elements like Cllr Gareth Compton under control. If someone like Gareth, [Edited] is a Conservative Councillor, then what does that say about the rest of Conservative Councillors in that Constituency.

As I say, keep Compton under control.

I don't see any reason why Lib Dem and Conservative councillors shouldn't get along, but keeping Conservative councillors under control is not where I'm at. Should I take your Nazi comparisons as an attempt to control him? That method of silencing debate is straight out of the Labour Party handbook and I don't like it. If you're looking to cool the temperature you could start by looking at your own language.

Is that a rhetorical question? In general, I'm not a fan of the 'guilt by association' line of argument and don't even understand it in this case.

I'm surprised and disappointed in the tone here. Where's the moderation? If nobody steps in to sue for peace, then perhaps it's time to lock this thread.

There is nothing wrong with debate. However, I don't expect a Councillor who is part of the partnership between the Conservative and Liberal Democrats to start making personal and abusive remarks about Liberal Democrats. If this is how he treats his political partners, I dread to think of the disdain and snobbishness he treats the residents of Erdington Ward.

Let's remember that Cllr Gareth Compton has made it clear he doesn't accept the Conservative - Lib Dem partnership and sees Lib Dems as the opposition. If he sees things that way, then fine - do you?

As I say, I don't like his nasty tone - he has repeatedly made unprovoked personal attacks on this messageboard against other Lib Dem councillors.

If you can't control a particular thuggish Conservative Councillor in the Erdington Conservative group, then I think the public should be made aware of this during the General Election campaign.

The ball is in your court.

I doubt many people noticed what Martin posted yesterday at 9:13 pm a Sunday

I guess he is now saying that Salma is now of the hook

So as the offices are closed on a Sunday this can not be water cooler Gossip
but proves that Martin is in direct contact with a Hall Green officer and future
proves that he is taking the lead on this matter

Is this a case of the Lunatics taking over the Asylum

If Cllr Gareth Compton keeps making his attacks on Liberal Democrats Councillors on this messageboard, then I will respond accordingly.
