Quite the most outrageous thing I've heard this year http://www.thestirrer.co.uk/March_10/br ... 60310.html

All a bit "WACKO JACKO" on a smaller financial scale is it not?

Out of court settlements are fairly commonplace but this does call such practice into question with the two issues being the nature of the crime and the fact that it was in effect a transaction between the perpetrator and the guardians of that perpetrator rather than mediated via the authorities. Hypothetically, might they have sold the abuse of their child to this character to gain money, because this is retrospectively what appears to have happened, pimping their child. Contemptible.

you have to ask serious questions of the judge on this case for such a light sentence

so the parents willfully & knowingly profited from a crime?
& then failed to report the crime, leaving him able to go on & commit more crimes if he wanted to.

as members of society, do they not have a duty to protect all children, not just their own?

so the police will be going to court to seize that money using the proceeds of crime act?
& they will also charge them with perverting the course of justice, as that is what theyve done?

This is an appaling tale, and a very bad day for British justice, though of course it has seen bad days before. Have to say that I think words like 'paedo' and 'sicko' actually trivialise the matter.
