THE STIRRER'S RATED AND SLATED

What's tickling The Stirrer's fancy… and what's as whiffy as a postman's socks after he's worked a double shift? Here is The Stirrer's Rated and Slated.

Ken Stott as Rebus. Back on the telly again and just as good as ever. How could ITV have ever cast John Hannah, excellent actor though he is, as a grouchy, furrowed middle-aged Hibs fan. Thankfully they saw the light, Stott got the job, and along with The Sopranos this is currently TV's most unmissable.

Ian Bell, Warwickshire and England batsman whose 86 against Pakistan steered England to their first one-day win in yonks. Top class.

Birthday cake. The Stirrer celebrated his 21st birthday(or was it 22nd) last week, and best prezzie was undoubtedly a home-made chocolate cake. With a chocolate coating. DOUBLE chocolate coating. Yummy.

The History Boys at Birmingham Rep. Terrific play, well acted. Sorry if you haven't got a ticket it's sold out.
Slated

Tony Blair. Apologising for the “party” not himself over the past week, while forgetting to apologise altogether for the lies that led us into war in Iraq. Another fine mess.
-
George Dubya Bush. The man who justifies interventions in foreign countries on the grounds that they aren't free and democratic owns up to running secret prisons and having trials in camera.
