SECOND CITY “MURDER” FEAR AFTER VILLA/BLUES DERBY

21-04-2008

Police have arrested a 20-year old man on suspicion of murder following yesterday’s Second City derby between Villa and Blues. A 26-year old male pedestrian was knocked down outside the ground at 3pm around an hour after the final whistle. He later died in hospital.

The vehicle involved in the incident, in Aston Hall Road, was a VW Golf.

West Midlands Police say “the enquiry is in its early stages and any speculation at this stage is unhelpful.”

Anyone with useful information should contact Queens Road Police Station on 0845 113 5000.
