Unions representing 20,000 Birmingham Council staff will meet tomorrow to discuss the next phase of their dispute over the new Single Status pay arrangements.

The key issue for the five unions representing workers is whether to hold more strikes following last week’s 48 hour walkout which had mixed success.

On the first day of the stoppage – Wednesday – there was evidence that support for industrial action was faltering (see link here) although by Thursday, staff seemed to have recovered some of their previous solidarity (see link here).

In the immediate aftermath, union officials warned there might be more strikes but conceded that the two-day action might have asking too much of members, and talked of more selective action in future (see link here).

They’ll be thrashing out the details of what to do next tomorrow.
