POETRY IN EMOTION 21-11-2006 The Chief Constable of Dyfed-Powys Terry Grange has caused a storm with his claim thatmen who have sex withgirls aged 13 to 15shouldn't be classed a paedophiles. He's been accused of creating a "grey area." Meanwhile agencies like Brook in Birmingham, are left to help young women pick up the pieces when early sexual encounters go wrong. Here to mark their 40th birthday is a tribute from Brum's poet laureate Spoz Waiting For Ages And Then Two Come At Once I loved him, I loved him But did he love me? All he gave me was a hangover And an STD - so I'm told I know I'm not that old, But is that burning sensation this thing called love? ‘Cause I just can't get you out of my head, …I thought Chlamydia was a posh girl's name Or bulbs that you planted in a flower bed. Of all the things he could have given me… A sense of worth, Is that asking for the earth? A sense of mutual need Before he filled me full of infected seed, Yes, seed that could have grown into a baby. Guess I'm lucky … maybe. Of all the things he could have given me, He had to give me this! A feeling of guilt And a burning when I piss, When all he had to say was “You give me tingles inside” As he held open the door to his pimped up ride. But no, he just fed me ‘20/20' And when my head was kind of empty We moved into the back seat and he quenched his thirst, He was my first. Then three minutes later, when he'd burst, it was over The only pumping left were the bass bins in his ‘Nova'. Another swig on the bottle As he got back behind the wheel and squeezed the throttle. How did I feel? Not as good as he did, He was dropping me off home now he'd got the fix he needed. So what to do? Who to tell? Couldn't talk to my mom and my dad's an ageing cynic Thank God for this place they call the Brook Clinic. ©Giovanni ‘Spoz' Esposito 2006 |
