FORMER MINISTER CURRIES FAVOUR WTH LOCAL RESTAURANTS

11-09-2006

Ex-defence minister Tom Watson was accused by twoSunday newspapersof plotting to bring down Tony Blair in a Black Country curry house. "Not guilty" pleads the West Brom MP, but that hasn't stopped him compiling his five favourite Indian restaurantsexclusively for The Stirrer.

1. The Rickshaw (Portersfield, Dudley)

Weirdest name for a curry house I know. Oriental decor and music. 70's retro chic and great pickles

2 The Akash (West Bromwich High Street)

Ali runs a tight ship. When you've been there are few times ask him if he has any fish dishes not advertised on the menu.

3. The Vine (Roebuck Street, West Bromwich)

The original grill room and the best. The very, very best barbeque meat in the West Midlands. Try the Methi chicken on your first visitalways with a naan bread and use a seperate paper plate of sweet sauce to dip into.

4. Lasan Restaurant (James Street, Hockley)

Abit pricier and upmarket than most but a great reputation. Go for the Goan fish curry

5. Teknaf (Bearwood Road, Smethwick)

Good service, decent menu
