VIC GODARD AND SUBWAY SECT (Wolves Civic Hall, Saturday)

Punk legend Vic Godard returns to the West Midlands this weekend – thanks to a positive review on The Stirrer.

We reviewed Vic’s gig in November in Leicester and commented that he hadn’t played in the West Midlands for quarter of a century - a pity given that he’s still in fine, feisty form.

Local promoter Dave Travis read the article and promised to have a word with his contacts at Wolverhampton Civic Hall where he promotes the Cheeky Monkey/Blast Off club nights – and lo, here’s Vic, on stage tomorrow night.

There’s a lot of cynicism about “punk nostalgia” doing the rounds – not least because of the Sex Pistols forthcoming Birmingham gig which went on sale this morning (see link here).

But whatever your views of Johnny Rotten and Co, Subway Sect are the real deal and well worth a shout.
