VOYAGER BOSS QUITS – IT’S OFFICIAL

23-05-2008

The Stirrer can confirm that the boss of Birmingham Council’s controversial Voyager scheme is stepping down – to take a new role with the government.

As we exclusively revealed earlier today Brendan Arnold, the city’s Director of Finance, is quitting, probably in August (see link here).

He’s accepted a similar role with the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Arnold wouldn’t comment on the news, but Glyn Evans the Corporate Director of Business Change at the Council said:  “It has been a great pleasure working with Brendan as we take forward our ambitious Business Transformation agenda for the authority.

"He has done an excellent job and is taking on a major role within central government, which is a tribute in itself to his excellent efforts in Birmingham.

"It will be difficult to replace such a valued member of staff."

Not all of Brendan’s colleagues are quite so appreciative.  On hearing the announcement, one Council insider said, “there’ll be cheering from the rooftops.”
